Nikita set for Cork

Mick Halford is looking at a return to Cork next month with his star filly Nick's Nikita.

The daughter of Pivotal bagged the Group Three Noblesse Stakes there last month over a mile and half, before just being touched off over an extra two furlongs last time out at the Curragh.

"The plan with her is to go back to Cork on August 6 for another Group Three fillies' race over a mile and a half," Halford told At The Races.

Regarding her last run, he added: "It was her first time over the trip and I think she did very well, but she was beaten by a better horse on the day.

"She's a very versatile filly though, and there could be more to come from her."

Halford has a Listed target in mind for another of his fillies, Deauville Vision.

The Irish Lincolnshire winner has been highly tried since her Curragh heroics, running a sound race to be third to stablemate Eastern Appeal in May but then finishing last of 11 behind Cheyenne Star last time out, both races having been in Group Three company.

Of her Irish Lincoln win, Halford said: "It was a good performance but obviously the handicapper didn't miss it and we then went for a Group Three.

"She was third to another filly of ours - Eastern Appeal - and had a little break after that.

"All being well, she'll run in a Listed race over a mile and one furlong next weekend."

He added of Eastern Appeal: "She's done very well for us this year but she's having a little break now and we'll be bringing her back for an autumn campaign."
