Bounty stuns punters

There was a big shock for the 6,500 sell-out crowd at Musselburgh when Victorian Bounty, the 9-1 outsider of five, won the EBF/Balfour Kilpatrick Supply Chain Median Auction Maiden Stakes.

Rebel Aclaim made the running, but Victorian Bounty swooped to lead over a furlong out and stayed on well to beat the former by three-quarters of a length. The favourite Angle Of Attack finished only fourth.

Winning trainer Eoghan O’Neill’s representative Peter Hedley said: “He did it well, I think they went too fast in front early on and we ran on.”

Fanning added: “Those two-year-olds were a bit green when they saw the crowd. Victorian Bounty is a nice horse and he will get further.”
