Regime diagnosed with back problem

Regime has been found to have damaged his back when disappointing in the Vodafone Derby.

The problem was discovered when the Sandown Classic Trial winner was given a thorough check-up after finishing a well-beaten 13th to Authorized at Epsom on Saturday.

However, the complaint is being treated and trainer Michael Bell has not yet ruled out the Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown on July 7 for the colt owned by Highclere Thoroughbred Racing.

“The latest news on Regime is that he was found to have a small problem with a ligament in between two vertebrae in his back,” said Bell.

“Carole Michaels, whose is our equine physiotherapist, found the problem and we are treating the area with ultra-sound and lasers.

“It is not a significant long-term problem, but we will give the horse all the time that he needs to come right and not rush him back.

“Having said that we intend to leave him in the Eclipse at the next forfeit stage in the hope that he will be ready in time, if not there is a race in France for him, the Prix Eugene Adam at Maisons-Laffitte on July 22,” the trainer told www.michaelbellracing.com.
