Amazing start at Ripon
Amazing Day (20-1) just got the better of 11-8 favourite Rio Taffeta in a thrilling finish to the skybet.com Wooden Spoon Charity Selling Stakes at Ripon.
Despite finishing over two lengths behind the jolly last time out when in receipt of 13lb, Bill Turner's charge managed to turn the tables by a short-head.
It was only the second winner of the season for 7lb claiming jockey Jack Dean, who managed to get the better of globe-trotting jockey Hugh Bowman in a ding-dong finish.
"It's a sweet success as this is a foal out of the first mare the owners bought," said John McGrath, representing the Hong Kong Breeders Club.
"They have 64 broodmares now in England and Ireland alone as well as many more abroad."
Patrick Haslam unleashed a potentially smart performer when Bespoke Boy ran away with the first division of the Destiny Racing Club Maiden Stakes.
The well-backed 9-2 chance was drawn favourably against the stands rail and even at halfway Lee Enstone looked to have matters well under control.
The Acclamation colt was pushed clear and not hard pressed to beat Nickel Silver by two lengths, with a further three back to 7-2 favourite Prunes.
"He's bred to be a three-year-old even though he's by a sprinting sire," said Haslam's son Ben, who bought the horse at Newmarket Sales.
"He's not really done a lot at home but we thought he was pretty good. He was about 95% fit today and we decided to run him for the experience.
"He worked with a horse that ran well at York last week (Mission Impossible) but he's never been off the bridle at home."
