Goodwood ground in perfect shape
Goodwood are expecting “perfect” racing ground as they kick off their 2007 season tomorrow.
Clerk of the course Seamus Buckley has had to contend with a prolonged dry spell at the Sussex venue but reports the ground to be no quicker than good to firm.
He said: “We have had 37 dry days but we have been watering day and night to produce a perfect racing surface.
“It is good down the home straight, good to firm on the loops and we have a lovely covering of grass. We are delighted to start the season in such good condition.”
The Listed EBF Begbies-Traynor Conqueror Stakes is the highlight of their seven-race card.
