Wells waits for Derby
Mores Wells will head to the Vodafone Derby at Epsom on June 2 without another run.
The son of Sadler’s Wells is a best-priced 25-1 for the race and is unbeaten in two races this season – both of which came over a mile and a quarter at Leopardstown.
After winning his maiden, he went on to take the Group Three Ballysax Stakes by half a length from the Francis Ennis-trained Ferneley.
“He won well the other day and can only improve going an extra couple of furlongs,” said handler Kevin Prendergast.
“His dam won the Queen’s Vase at Ascot so a mile and a half should not be any bother to him.
“He’s not a horse that takes an awful lot and he’s progressing well from the run so hopefully we’ll arrive at Epsom fit and well and give it a big shot,” he told At The Races.
