Rising Shadow grabs thrilling win
Rising Shadow picked up where he left off last season when gaining a thrilling victory in the Listed williamhill.co.uk Cammidge Trophy.
David Barronâs 13-2 chance was given a well-judged ride by Jimmy Quinn, who galvanised a sustained late drive to collar long-time leader Sierra Vista (16-1) close home.
Rising Shadow had three-quarters of a length to spare at the line and Barron also saddled the third, 9-1 shot Skhilling Spirit, who came from a long way back to finish a length and a quarter in arrears of Sierra Vista.
Of the winner, a delighted Barron said: âHeâs in good form and heâs developing into a fairly useful little tool.
âHeâs very genuine but he does need a little cut in the ground and heâs carried a penalty there so the handicapper might react.â
Rising Shadow could now attempt to stretch his winning run to four in the Duke Of York Stakes on the Knavesmire, providing the ground is on the easy side.
âHe likes York so if you can arrange some rain for then weâd be happy,â Barron smiled.
