There was a 30-minute delay to racing at Wincanton after an incident involving two horses in the Elite Racing Novices’ Hurdle.

Warlord, ridden by Daryl Jacob, fell down the back straight, in turn bringing down Stars In His Eyes and Jay Harris.

Jacob was able to walk away from the incident, but conditional rider Harris had to be airlifted to nearby Yeovil Hospital with abdominal and facial injuries.

Warlord himself was heavily sedated on the hurdles track.

“Jay Harris has been taken Yeovil Hospital with abdominal and facial injuries,” clerk of the course," Rebecca Morgan told Racing UK. “The horse that is down is heavily sedated at the moment.”
