Fish 'quite sick' after Bumper
Mad Fish may not have been operating at his best when eighth in the Weatherbys Champion Bumper at Cheltenham on Wednesday.
The Willie Mullins-trained gelding was sent off a well-backed 4-1 favourite, and although he travelled well for much of the race, he was reportedly quite sick following those exploits.
“Whether it was coming on before the race or not I don’t know but certainly he was quite sick afterwards,” Mullins said.
“We had to lead him up to the Anglesey Lodge Horse Hospital but he seems to have settled back now. They’ve treated him and he’ll come home tomorrow or the next day.”
While Mullins is unsure if Mad Fish was ailing before he ran at Prestbury Park, he feels it is a distinct possibility.
However, the Irish handler has not ruled out Mad Fish returning to the track this season.
“We don’t know whether it was coming on before but the likelihood is that it might have been,” he said.
“We’ll get him home and see what they say and then we’ll take things from there.”
