Seeker out of Lincoln
Top weight New Seeker has been ruled out of the William Hill Lincoln Heritage Handicap at Newcastle later this month.
Trainer Paul Cole and owners the Elite Racing Club have decided to give the seven-year-old more time to come to himself.
“He was slow to come in his coat and Paul thought it would be a bit of a rush to get him there,” said Elite’s racing manager Matthew Budden.
“It wouldn’t be a sensible thing to do at the start of the season – push him to get there and bottom him.
“We know he’s a horse that doesn’t like it too soft. It was always going to be a risk so there doesn’t seem a lot of point pursuing it.
“We’ll see how he is and follow a similar plan to previous years.”
The defection of New Seeker, who was generally available at 20-1, means that the weights will rise by at least 2lb.
