Fran Ferris has missed the deadline to appeal against the decision of the Horseracing Regulatory Authority to suspend him from racing for two years.

Fran Ferris has missed the deadline to appeal against the decision of the Horseracing Regulatory Authority to suspend him from racing for two years.

He had until 5pm today to lodge an appeal against the charges brought against him on February 16, when he was found guilty of passing information for reward and not riding specific horses on their merits in the knowledge they had been laid to lose.

Ferris’ two-year warning-off order begins on Tuesday morning.

Robbie Fitzpatrick, initially handed a three-year suspension for similar offences, lodged his appeal against the ban on February 26.

He had been handed the punishment after being found guilty of passing information for reward, hindering an investigation and misleading investigators.

Fellow riders Robert Winston and Luke Fletcher elected not to appeal against respective one- and three-year suspensions handed out at the same hearing.
