Casey looking forward to Rain
David Casey believes Teeming Rain is capable of a bold show if he contests the totesport.com Eider Chase at Newcastle on Saturday.
Charlie Swan’s eight-year-old won the Grand National Trial at Punchestown on his last start after finishing third behind Point Barrow in a valuable race at Leopardstown before that.
“He kept galloping, he enjoyed the ground, he really jumped well – he seems to be getting the hang of things over fences now and he jumped better than he has ever had done,” Casey said.
“I think the experience of the Paddy Power Chase (won by Cane Brake) in December did him the world of good and he put up a good performance last time. Hopefully if he comes over to Newcastle he will run a good race.
“If he goes I think I will be going over to ride him, hopefully he has a nice chance.
“The Paddy Power really made a man of him.
“He probably needs to step up again to go and win the Eider, but hopefully he is going that way now,” he told At The Races.
“With another couple of runs I think he would have enough experience for a race like the Irish National.”
