Man primed for Dubai mission
David Simcock is preparing Metropolitan Man for a trip to the 2007 Dubai International Racing Carnival, which gets underway on January 18.
The four-year-old son of Dr Fong made his mark last season with a string of fine efforts in top-quality company, including when a close fifth in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.
He is now being geared up for a trip to the emirate where he will again keep company with top-class opposition.
“Metropolitan Man will ship to Dubai in mid-February where the plan is for him to have two runs,” said Simcock
“His initial outing will come on February 22 in a Group 2 race – the Al Fahidi – over a mile. He will then tackle a Listed contest, the Zabeel Mile, on March 8.
“He may just need that first run, but it will set him up nicely for his second one.
“We have also given him a provisional entry for the Group 1 Dubai Duty Free on March 31.
“I’m currently very happy with the horse. He is wintering well and looks fantastic for the time of year,” the Newmarket handler told www.davidsimcock.co.uk.
