Prospects for racing were left in the balance on Tuesday after a deluge of rainfall at the Berkshire venue.

The forecast overnight showers failed to materialise, however, and the course has been passed fit for racing.

Clerk of the course Richard Osgood confirmed: “Racing is on and it is heavy ground.

“There is more rain expected throughout the day but we think we can probably manage.”
