Towchester goes ahead

Today’s seven-race meeting at Towcester will go ahead as planned with the action beginning at 12.15 with the European Breeders’ Fund “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle.

The Northamptonshire venue was hit with 15 millimetres of rain overnight, which left the going heavy and forced clerk of the course Robert Bellamy to call an inspection at 8.30 this morning.

However, Bellamy is confident that the track is safe and raceable.

“We go ahead. It’s heavy ground and we have very wet conditions but we’re racing,” he confirmed.

“We had 15 millimetres of rain last night but the forecast is for the weather to improve from now on.”
