Red Evie lands Matron Stakes success

Red Evie produced a well-timed run to land a first Group One success in the Coolmore Fusaichi Pegasus Matron Stakes at Leopardstown.

Michael Bell’s charge, sent off a 6-1 chance, was having her first start at the highest level and benefited from a great Jamie Spencer ride to see off fellow British raider Peeress by a short head.

The Mick Channon-trained Flashy Wings flew home in the final furlong to claim third.
