Spencer appeal fails

Jamie Spencer failed in his bid to have a three-day ban handed out by the Salisbury stewards on August 31 overturned by the Horseracing Regulatory Authority disciplinary panel.

Spencer was riding Gloved Hand in the EBF Lochsong Fillies’ Stakes when his mount hung into the winner, Gaelic Princess, inside the final furlong.

Gloved Hand lost by a neck, but the stewards found Spencer guilty of careless riding and suspended him for three days.

Spencer is currently serving a suspension, although he is allowed to ride on Saturday as there are Group One races.

The penalty will remain three days and he has lost his £500 (€736.20) deposit.
