Alexandrova targets Oaks hat-trick
Dual Classic winner Alexandrova heads a list of 13 horses confirmed for Wednesday’s Darley Yorkshire Oaks at York.
Aidan O’Brien’s three-year-old achieved a high-profile double when following up an impressive six-length Oaks romp at Epsom with another comfortable success in the Irish equivalent.
She is one of two Irish entries in the Group One feature along with Peter Casey’s Sina Cova.
Sir Michael Stoute boasts a most impressive record in this event, having saddled four of the past six winners, and he could be represented by Short Skirt and Lancashire Oaks winner Allegretto.
The resurgent Godolphin team have confirmed both Reunite and Guadalajara, although the latter has been declared to run in this weekend’s Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury.
Italian trainer Valfredo Valiani sprang a 25-1 shock in the race with Super Tassa in 2001 and Exhibit One could represent him this time.
French hopes could lie with Montare and Alain de Royer Dupre’s Shamdala, winner of the Group One Gran Premio di Milano.
Other interesting possibles include John Dunlop’s Group Two-winner Time On and the Pat Haslam-trained Maroussies Wings, who landed a Group Three at Deauville on Thursday afternoon.
