Altay set to return
Former Swinton Handicap Hurdle winner Altay could have his first run for 612 days at Beverley on Saturday.
Richard Fahey’s versatile inmate has tasted success on the level and over timber and is now set to embark upon a chasing career later this year - providing he comes through his reappearance unscathed.
“Altay had a touch of a leg after the last time we ran him, but I’d like to run him now as he’s ready for a run,” Fahey said.
“We’ll have to see how he gets on but it would be nice to give him a spin on the Flat. I think he’ll probably go novice chasing later on this year.
“It all depends on the ground as I wouldn’t run him on firm going. I don’t seem to be able to get away with running him on summer ground,” he explained.
