Charlie Delta took his winning haul to three with an emphatic success under top apprentice Danny Tudhope in the opening race at Nottingham.

Declan Carroll’s gelding had won twice over six furlongs as a two-year-old and he once again showed his liking for the trip with a three-length call over Mary Delaney in the visitnottingham.com Handicap.

The 9-1 winner could now be heading to York for the William Hill Trophy on Saturday week.

“He’s got plenty of speed in this grade and he’s done it well,” Carroll said.

“We are just happy that he’s won. We’ll see what the handicapper does but the York race is a possibility. It might be aiming a bit high but we’ll see.”
