Waiting misses Derrinstown date
King In Waiting, as low as 25-1 with William Hill for the Vodafone Derby, has been ruled out of Sunday’s Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown.
John Oxx’s charge won on his debut at the Curragh in March but has since suffered a setback and is now unlikely to head to Epsom.
Oxx told The Racing Post: “He won’t run on Sunday as he needs more time. He’s just not ready for it yet.
“He had a setback after winning his maiden which forced him to miss the Ballysax and while we were hoping he’d make it back for Sunday’s race, it has just come too soon.
“They must have an uninterrupted run in their training programme in order to keep improving and while he’s still in some bookmaker lists, he’d have to have run in the Ballysax and the Derrinstown to be even considered for Epsom.”
