Soumillon strikes at Longchamp
Daltaya won the Group Three Prix de la Grotte under Christophe Soumillon for trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre at Longchamp.
Always handy, Soumillon had the filly settled just behind the pacemaker in the Classic trial and got first run on the favourite Quiet Royal, who was a fast-finishing second.
Owned by the Aga Khan, the winner used her race fitness to good advantage but the runner-up, ridden by Olivier Peslier for Criquette Head-Maarek, did not appear have a hard race in second.
Price Tag was third for Pascal Barry while Aidan O’Brien’s Queen Cleopatra stayed on one-paced for fourth under Kieren Fallon.
