Decado stayed on too strongly for the opposition to comfortably claim the Oak Lodge Sires Loughbrown Stakes at the Curragh.

Declan McDonogh brought the Kevin Prendergast-trained colt with a smooth run to head Aidan O’Brien’s runner Queen Cleopatra a furlong out in the Listed contest.

The 7-1 chance shot four lengths clear of Kieren Fallon’s mount, with 5-4 favourite Danehill Music back in third.

Prendergast said: "I thought he'd win today. He travelled well throughout the race. He will probably come back here for the (Irish) 2000 Guineas. He might be good enough.”
