Cheltenham Gold Cup fourth L’Ami has been purchased by multi-millionaire owner JP McManus.

The seven-year-old was sold privately by Jim McCarthy following his creditable effort behind War Of Attrition at Prestbury Park but will still be in the care of French handler Francois Doumen.

L’Ami is likely to make his debut in the famous green-and-gold silks of McManus in the Betfair Bowl at Aintree on Thursday.

“JP has bought L’Ami and he will be ridden by Tony McCoy at Aintree,” Francois Doumen told the Racing Post.
