Good ground forecast for Gold Cup

Clerk of the course Simon Claisse is anticipating good ground for the totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup on Friday.

Although an overnight frost has been forecast, officials at Prestbury Park are confident the final day of the Festival will not be affected by conditions.

“It’s a similar forecast tonight as it was last night,” said Claisse. “We are looking at possibly minus-one or minus-two.

“We will again cover all the vulnerable areas with temperatures set to rise a little higher tomorrow, maybe four or five degrees.

“If we dry out no more quickly between today and tomorrow, I don’t expect tomorrow to be any faster than middle of good,” he told Racing UK.
