Rain not ideal for Bowen hopes
Peter Bowen is hoping the current wet spell of weather does not ruin the chances of Take The Stand and Ballycassidy in totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup on Friday week.
The Haverfordwest handler’s pair are 12-1 and 150-1 respectively for the blue riband but both need a decent racing surface to be seen at their best.
“I don’t know what the weather forecast is but I just hope that it dries up,” said Bowen.
Take The Stand, runner-up to Kicking King 12 months ago, is reported to be fit and well after unseating Tony Dobbin in the Ascot totesport Chase, while Ballycassidy bounced back to form when fifth in the Racing Post Chase.
“He came back to form and Sandown last time but he also needs good, fast ground so I have my fingers crossed for him as well,” Bowen told Racing UK.
