Fehily to see specialist

Noel Fehily will visit a specialist on Monday morning after suffering a suspected broken ankle at Newbury on Saturday.

The 30-year-old rider took a crashing fall aboard the Charlie Mann-trained Fandani when leading before the last in the Vodafone Handicap Hurdle.

Fehily was taken to Newbury West Berkshire Community Hospital, where X-rays on the injured joint proved inconclusive.

He will now visit a specialist on Monday morning to ascertain the extent of the damage.

“Noel is back home and fine but I wouldn’t want to speculate until we have seen the specialist on Monday,” said Fehily’s agent Chris Broad.

“It was a horrible fall – he bounced like a rag-doll – but we will just have to wait and see what the damage is.”
