Volfoni handed Kingmaker target

Paul Nicholls has earmarked the Grade Two Blue Square Kingmaker Novices’ Chase as the next assignment for Le Volfoni.

Although the progressive five-year-old’s three-race winning run was ended at Lingfield last weekend, Nicholls’ charge lost nothing in defeat when he finished second behind Foreman in the Grade Two intercasino.co.uk Novices’ Chase.

The Ditcheat handler is now aiming Le Volfoni for the Warwick race on February 11.

“I couldn’t have been happier with that run (at Lingfield) as it was a career-best performance,” Nicholls told Teletext.

“We are now setting our sights with him for the Kingmaker, where I think he should go well.”
