L'Aventure ruled out of Aintree bid
Paul Nicholls has ruled out a tilt at this season’s John Smith’s Grand National for L’Aventure following her success in the Welsh version at Chepstow on Tuesday.
Mindful of the fact the mare sulked when she finished 15th in the Aintree showpiece in April, Nicholls will not even enter her for the race.
However, both Heros Collonges and Cornish Rebel who played their part in providing Nicholls with a clean sweep in the Coral-sponsored marathon, could take their chances at Aintree.
“L’Aventure didn’t enjoy herself in the National back in April and I don’t see the point in entering her on the basis of that run,” explained Nicholls.
“Obviously she needs a trip and there aren’t many options, although she could well get her testing conditions in the Midlands National at Uttoxeter.
“I was pleased with Heros Collonges, who ran well at Aintree last season, and I see no reason why he shouldn’t go back and have another crack.
“Cornish Rebel could need another year before we allow him to go there, but I will probably give him an entry to leave the option open should we have a change of heart.”
