Trevor Hemmings is keeping his fingers crossed that Trabolgan can make it back on the track in time for he totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup in March.

The Lancashire-based owner’s seven-year-old has been on the easy list with a tendon problem which came to light a week after his brilliant success under top weight in the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup.

“He is out trotting and will go for a scan in about two weeks,” Hemmings told Channel 4.

“The last scan showed more of a bruising so fingers crossed. Nicky Henderson was right to leave it alone and hopefully nature will put it right.”
