Win for Another Native

Another Native, whose only previous win had been at Gowran Park and who is now trained by Charlie Mann, opened his account in Britain by taking the bet365 Novices' Handicap Chase at Haydock.

Itsuptoharry went to the front as they raced into the bend heading towards the straight, and setting sail for home it looked as if he had the race in his grasp.

But Noel Fehily brought Another Native with a sustained run to collar him in the last 100 yards and forge three-and-a-half-lengths clear.

Mann said: “If he goes up enough to get into the handicap I would like to run him in the Topham Trophy at Aintree in the spring.

“The Grand Sefton at the last meeting there would have been a nice race for him, but he had run below par at Windsor in his previous race so we decided to give it a miss.”
