Keightley warned off for three years

Trainer Shaun Keightley has been warned off for three years and jockey Pat McCabe suspended for 28 days over the running and riding of Red Lancer at Wolverhampton in 2003.

A Jockey Club disciplinary panel found Keightley in breach of five separate rules while McCabe was judged guilty of breaking rule 157, concerning allowing a horse to run on it’s merits thereby affecting the result of the race.

Keightley will be excluded for three years and will not be able to reapply for a training licence for a further two years after that.

Red Lancer finished ninth of 11 runners in the wolverhampton-racecourse.co.uk Selling Stakes at Dunstall Park on October 20, 2003.
