No worries for Sandown

This afternoon’s meeting at Sandown Park has been given the all-clear after the Esher course passed an early-morning inspection.

Heavy rainfall over the last few days meant the six-race card, featuring the William Hill – Tingle Creek Trophy, was subject to a proposed 7.30am inspection.

But with only six millimetres of overnight rainfall, clerk of the course Andrew Cooper was confident enough to bring forward his precautionary look at the track to 6.30am.

“There was no point in hanging around once we realised there was not that much rainfall last night,” explained Cooper.

“We would rather have had no rain but the course is perfectly raceable – it should be a good day.”

The going on the chase course is currently soft and officially described as heavy on the hurdles course.
