Detroit ready for hurdling debut

Smart Flat performer Detroit City is set to make his hurdling bow at either Warwick or Sandown next week.

Terry Warner, owner of Rooster Booster, gave a six-figure sum for the son of Kingmambo when he purchased the three-year-old out of Jeremy Noseda’s stable in the summer.

Detroit City won four times on the level, as well as being placed in Listed company, and Hobbs is looking to get his jumping stint off to a good start.

He said: “Touch wood his schooling has been very good and I’ll look at races for him at Warwick and Sandown next weekend.

“We had him gelded as soon as he came here. He’s had a good break and I’m looking forward to seeing him run.”

Detroit City is already as low as 33-1 with William Hill and Ladbrokes for the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham in March.
