Ayr given Saturday green light
Ayr’s fixture on Saturday will definitely go ahead after the Scottish track passed an inspection on Friday morning.
Recent rainfall put the first leg of Ayr’s two-day meeting in doubt, but clerk of the course Anthea Morshead confirmed racing will proceed at 1.55pm as planned.
“We’ve been terrifically lucky with the weather in that we have missed the forecasted overnight rain as well as the early morning rain,” said Morshead.
“We’ve had a dry night and the conditions are heavy on the round course.”
However, Ayr might not be so lucky on Sunday as rain is expected on Saturday afternoon and throughout the night.
“It’s forecast for rain to come in from the West on Saturday mid-afternoon and if that is the case we might not stand too much of a chance on Sunday, what with the heavy ground and racing on Saturday,” added Morshead.
“This is obviously something we’ll be keeping a close eye on as the weekend progresses.”
