Dobbin on the sidelines
Tony Dobbin will be out of action for around 10 days after cracking a bone in his elbow while riding out on Friday.
The Cumbria-based jockey, who recently notched up his 1,000th British winner, was thrown on to the road after the horse he was riding played up.
“It was a strange fall and immediately afterwards I didn’t think it had done any damage,” he told the Racing Post.
“The horse I was on did a bit of a rodeo act, I came off, then got back on and we walked away ready to go up on the gallops.
“But I felt some pain when we went to sort out the girth, so I thought it was worth getting it checked out.
“My doctor told me there’s a slight crack and it’s still a bit sore, so it looks as if I’ll be off for around ten days.
“I’ve got to see a specialist, but that’s just precautionary, and I certainly intend to be back well before the end of the month.
“It’s always disappointing to pick up an injury at this time of year, and it looks as if I’m going to miss some nice rides for Len Lungo and Nicky Richards at Kelso and Aintree next weekend, but it could have been a whole lot worse.”
