Colori up for the challenge

A first-time visor worked the oracle as Le Vie Dei Colori bounced back to form in the VC Bet Challenge Stakes at Newmarket.

Luca Cumani’s charge had failed to show much in his last four starts, accounting for his 20-1 starting price, but responded well to the headgear under Gerard Mosse.

New Seeker went a decent clip early on but he was swallowed up coming into the final two furlongs as first Peeress, then Sleeping Indian, launched their challenges.

The latter, sent off the 9-4 favourite, looked all over the winning coming into the Dip but Mosse conjured a late response to win by a comfortable one and a half lengths.

Sir Michael Stoute’s Arakan came through to claim third, a further length away.
