Champion bid for Goldrun

Jim Bolger has given Alexander Goldrun the go-ahead for a rematch with Oratorio in Saturday’s Emirates Airline Champion Stakes at Newmarket.

The pair were separated by Motivator and less than a length in the Irish equivalent race at Leopardstown last month, when the multiple Group One winning filly suffered a few taffic problems before finishing with a strong late challenge in third.

She was subsequently a shade disappointing in the Prix de l’Opera, taking the same placing behind Kinnaird.

“All’s well with the filly, so she runs, and I’ll also run Abigail Pett in the Rockfel Stakes and Democratic Deficit in the Challenge Stakes,” Bolger told the Racing Post.

Alexander Goldrun is a general 10-1 shot for the Champion Stakes.
