Salisbury option for Maggie
Wake Up Maggie could bid for Listed honours next week following her valuable success in Ireland.
Trainer Chris Wall is thinking of running last Saturday’s Curragh winner in the EBF/Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Dick Poole Stakes, a Listed race over six furlongs, at Salisbury on Thursday week.
The daughter of Xaar picked up more than £100,000 (€140,000) for her connections when taking the Tattersalls Ireland Sales Stakes and is reported to be in good form.
“She has come out of her race in Ireland very well – no problems,” said Wall. “She may go for a Listed race at Salisbury next Thursday, the Dick Poole Stakes.”
Wall is to make a late decision as to which race Counsel’s Opinion will contest at Windsor on Saturday evening.
The eight-year-old holds entries in the Group Three totepool Winter Hill Stakes over a mile and a quarter and the Listed Royal Windsor August Stakes over 11 and a half furlongs.
“I am not too sure which race I will run in him on Saturday. I will see what horses are going where and make a decision quite late on,” he added.
