Keniry aiming for weekend return
Barry Keniry hopes to make a quick return to action after suffering whiplash in a fall at Southwell this afternoon.
Keniry was taken to hospital for precautionary X-rays after Prize Ring fell at the third fence in the opening ECA And Edmundson Electrical Novices’ Handicap Chase.
The George Moore-trained gelding brought down Tony McCoy’s mount, Who Dares, in the process but the champion jockey emerged unscathed while Keniry was stretchered off and taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham for examination.
Subsequent X-rays revealed no serious damage and Keniry is aiming for a weekend return.
His agent, Richard Hale, said: “Essentially, he’s OK but he does have a bit of whiplash.
“He went for X-rays which confirmed that he’s not broken anything so he is on his way home now.
“Although he’s a bit sore with the whiplash, he says he will be back riding at the weekend.”
