McEvoy plays it straight

Kerrin McEvoy believes the straight mile at Deauville will play against Divine Proportions when the filly clashes with Godolphin’s star colt Dubawi in the Prix Jacques le Marois on Sunday week.

McEvoy, who could yet ride Dubawi should Frankie Dettori not make it back from the sidelines in time, played up the chances of the Irish 2000 Guineas winner, who has been rested since finishing third in the Vodafone Derby.

Divine Proportions, meanwhile, has not been resting on her laurels and kept her unbeaten record intact when winning for the ninth time in last weekend’s Prix d’Astarte.

“I have never ridden in a race with her, but I have seen a lot of her,” the Australian jockey told Racing UK.

“Possibly, in my mind, she is better round a bend and this race is a straight mile so that might soften her up a bit. Dubawi is back to his best, so it is going to be a great race.”
