Nidhaal works well ahead of possible Newbury date

Nidhaal put her best foot forward on the Newmarket gallops this morning as a possible tilt at the Princess Margaret Stakes on Saturday draws ever closer.

The Observatory filly, trained by Ed Dunlop, shone on her debut at Newmarket earlier this month when she strode to a comprehensive four-length win in the six-furlong fillies’ maiden.

She has not stood still since that success and today pleased in a five-furlong spin on the Cambridge Road polytrack where she was partnered by Richard Hills.

Now connections are weighing up whether to allow her to take place in the six-furlong Group Three at Newbury this weekend.

Speaking on his website eddunlop.com, he said: “She galloped this morning, ridden by Richard Hills and he was happy with her. She worked nicely.

“Subject to her coming out of that okay, we will seriously consider running her in the Princess Margaret.

“It will tell us where we are going but it is obviously a good race and I have a huge respect for La Chunga (the Albany Stakes’ winner), who could be an exceptional filly.

“The form of Nidhaal’s maiden couldn’t have worked out better with the filly who finished eighth, Lady Livius, winning the Weatherby’s Super Sprint, and the filly who finished fourth, Nantyglo, won on Monday night at Windsor.

“So the form is good as was the time. There is much to discuss between now and Friday.”
