International date for deficit
Democratic Deficit heads 13 possibles for the Group Three Ladbrokes.ie International Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday.
Jim Bolger’s three-year-old has already won twice at the same level this season, taking the Craven Stakes at Newmarket in April and the Ballycorus Stakes at Leopardstown last month.
In between he finished sixth behind Footstepsinthesand in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and third behind Dubawi in the Irish equivalent.
His hard-fought victory over seven furlongs at Leopardstown got his campaign back into the winning groove and also suggested a step back up in trip would suit him.
Other notable entries include Sir Mark Prescott’s pair Comic Strip and Cupid’s Glory.
Comic Strip was a highly progressive two-year-old, winning five out of his six races last year, but has yet to run this season.
Cupid’s Glory ran out an impressive winner of last season’s Horris Hill Stakes before finishing fourth in the Group One Criterium International in France. He, too, would be making his seasonal debut.
Aidan O’Brien’s highly-tried Grand Central and unexposed potential improvers Milesius and Moonlight Dance add weight to a competitive entry.
