Scorpion added to Grand Prix field
Irish Derby runner-up Scorpion was today supplemented for Thursday’s Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp.
Aidan O’Brien’s colt made no impact on his last visit to France when second-last in the Prix du Jockey Club, and he was earlier beaten by Im Spartacus in the Gallinule Stakes.
However, the son of Montjeu showed significantly improved form at the Curragh last month to get within half a length of Hurricane Run.
Alex Pantall has also supplemented Orion Star, which at this stage brings the field up to 10 for the mile-and-a-half Group One event.
Orion Star could again meet the Andre Fabre-trained Desideratum, who beat him over course and distance last month.
The sole British representative is John Gosden’s Plea Bargain, winner of the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot at York last time.
French Derby sixth, ninth, 11th and 12th Laverock, Airex, Musketier and Vatori complete the field along with Annenkov and another Fabre representative, Bellamy Cay.
