Soviet on song ahead of Newmarket

Soviet Song is reported to be in fine shape as she prepares for a repeat win in the UAE Equestrian And Racing Federation Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket a week tomorrow.

The James Fanshawe-trained mare, owned by the Elite Racing Club, slammed dual Classic winner Attraction last summer for the first of a hat-trick of Group One victories.

She made a belated return to action this season with a promising run at Royal Ascot at York, finishing third to Peeress in the Windsor Forest Stakes.

“She worked well on Saturday. It was her first bit of work since Royal Ascot at York and she’s going along nicely,” said Elite’s racing manager Matthew Budden today.

“It’s all systems go for Newmarket – that’s the plan.

“It was nice to get a run under her belt before going for the Falmouth again.

“We feel that she has come on for the run. Last year she needed a couple of races before she hit top gear.”
