Beverley have cut the safety limit for their five-furlong races to 14 after deciding to doll off an area of the track on the inside rail.

The racecourse management was concerned about the state of the ground on the inside line and elected to doll it off to give the area a chance to recover.

“We had a very wet year last year and the track hasn’t recovered as well as we’d hoped,” explained racecourse manager Sally Iggulden.

“We have moved the bend which means we have had to realign the five furlong chute and cut the safety limit.

“The change could just be for Monday’s meeting or for longer – we will have to see how the ground recovers before making a decision.”
