Key hits a winning note

Right Key dug deep to land the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Blue Wind Stakes at Naas tonight.

The Kevin Prendergast-trained winner was sent off a 10-1 shot for the Group Three contest and she moved up well turning for home as early leader Agenda began to flag.

Declan McDonogh pushed Right Key into the lead at the two-furlong marker and she kicked away from favourite Hazariya.

The latter tried to challenge again inside the final furlong but she didn’t look totally comfortable on the quick ground allowing Right Key to pull a length clear with Sweet Firebird back in third.

Prendergast now plans to step the Key Of Luck filly back up in class for the Audi Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh on June 25.

He said: “She didn’t fire on heavy ground but her last couple of bits of work on drier ground have been good.

“She stays at it well and she will run next in the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh.”
