Dubawi could head to Irish Guineas
Connections of beaten UltimatePoker.com 2000 Guineas favourite Dubawi are considering a crack at the Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh on May 21.
Reported to be none the worse after his fifth place at Newmarket on ground considered too fast, the previously unbeaten son of Dubai Millennium could be kept at a mile having been winter favourite for the Vodafone Derby.
Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford told the Racing Post: “We will keep an eye on him and then start all over again, but the Irish 2000 Guineas is a possible target depending on how he is.
“As a two-year-old we thought he would develop into a horse who would stay further, but he shows a lot of early natural pace and the make and shape of a miler.
“He should get the ground he wants at the Curragh and that is what’s important.”
Dubawi was removed from the betting on the Epsom Classic by some firms after the weekend.
