Murphy has suspected broken wrist
Timmy Murphy has been taken to Naas Hospital with a suspected broken wrist after a fall from Emotional Article in the Tote Ireland 75th Anniversary Handicap Hurdle at Punchestown today.
The Tom Taaffe-trained gelding fell heavily and Murphy appeared to be kicked by several horses, including the winner Mansony, before being stretchered away from the scene to be taken for X-rays.
Murphy had been enjoying a successful afternoon, having won the Ellier Developments Novice Chase on Forget The Past.
The Irish-born rider had also just rounded off his most successful season in Britain to date, finishing up with a career-best total of 143 winners when second to Tony McCoy in the jockeys’ championship.
