Rooster among Agfa entries

Rooster Booster could bid to win the Agfa Hurdle for the second time in three years at Sandown on Saturday.

The popular grey, who took this prize en route to lifting the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham in 2003, is among 10 entries.

He has an alternative engagement in the totesport Gold Trophy at Newbury the following weekend.

Rooster Booster beat Self Defense by half a length in the Agfa in February 2003, and Pat Chaming’s eight-year-old may try to go one better this time.

Marcel, whose victory in the Tolworth Hurdle over this course and distance recently was his ninth success of the season, heads a three-strong entry from Martin Pipe’s stable.

The champion trainer can also call on Tamarinbleu, who beat Self Defense to take the Ladbroke Hurdle here more than three weeks ago, and Copeland.

Steve Gollings has put in Royal Shakespeare, while Howard Johnson’s Chivalry is another interesting possible.

The entry is completed by Crossbow Creek, who won at Kempton today, Ashgan and Cool Roxy.
